Dog Food Controversy: Blue Buffalo’s Dog Food – 2 Class Action Lawsuits

The filed lawsuit says that Blue Buffalo advertised their pet foods even after knowing that their dog foods were contaminated with lead and that they failed to give proper warnings to their consumers. The lawsuit also claimed that the company misled their customers by claiming their products are filled with antioxidants as well as different vitamins and minerals essential for dog’s health.

The company has been advertising their pet products to be holistic and healthy. However, the case states otherwise. Since the dog food products advertised and sold by Blue Buffalo are contaminated by an unsafe amount of lead, it poses a health risk against canines.

Lead is toxic to both dogs and human. When a large amount of lead traces are seen on the blood, it can mean acute or chronic illnesses. Most of the time, lead poisoning relates to CNS (Central Nervous System) and GI (GastroIntestinal) System. The company addressed the lawsuit filed against them saying this was the only case that was filed against three of their pet products in the market. They claim the lawsuit was all but mere unsubstantial allegations with no proof. The company fought the lawsuit and won. By March 20, 2018, the case was dismissed.
