Dog With A Huge Mass In Her Face Got Rescued, Only For Her Rescuers To Find What She Has Was A Cancerous Tumor.
I have a dear friend whose dog, a German Shepherd, passed away because of cancer. The cancer was detected way too late. It was a very sad event, as I have come to love the dog. He was very friendly and active, you wouldn’t even know he’s already suffering from the disease.
After some research, I learned that some dog breeds are more prone to cancer. Although any breed can develop cancer cells, some dogs have higher instances of getting it. Rottweiler, Bernese Mountain Dog, Bouvier Des Flandres, German Shepherd, Great Dane, Labrador Retriever, Golden Retriever Bichon Frise, Boxer are the top 9 breeds of dogs that experts are more prone to cancer.
I’m happy that Olivia is now doing well, but I know there are more stray dogs out there waiting to be rescued. Some have serious diseases that can cause their death, and since they are stray dogs, no one might even know they are already suffering from one.
Sometimes I can’t help but wonder, how many dogs are left in the streets with regular water and food source? How many are suffering from illnesses, and got no one to take care of them? When will we see the day when no more dogs are shivering in the cold damp streets, starving to death and are dehydrated?
I am a dog owner, and it hurts to know dogs exist in these situations, which is why every chance that I get, I spend time with my rescue dogs. I play with them, hug them, kiss them, take them for walks, have them regularly checked and vaccinated by vets, make sure they are well-fed, happy, active and safe.
I believe that by being a responsible dog owner, I get to help by keeping more dogs out of the streets, and into a home they truly deserve. I just hope no one will suffer because of a deadly disease such as cancer, and that all dogs and humans alike get to survive whatever life throws at us.
