An Odd Friendship Between A Tiny Squirrel Named Quasi And His Savior, Pongo The Dog.
How did Pongo’s owner know he was an abandoned baby squirrel? After warming baby Quasi inside and making sure she’s comfortable, they head out back in the backyard and sat him down near the trees. They stayed a safe distance so as not to scare the squirrels away, but no squirrel ever paid attention to Quasi. None of the squirrels came to check on him or even took him back up in some tree.
Pongo and his owner were broken hearted for Quasi, so they made the big decision of keeping him. Pongo’s owner felt if they just left Quasi out something bad could have happened to him, and both Pongo and his owner won’t let that happen to Quasi, so they took him in.
Pongo and Quasi’s owner knew he was a little different when they took him in. the little baby squirrel would tend to run into things all the time. This only meant one thing – Quasi is partially blind. It seems he can see a little bit of light and would try to jump but end up falling.
Pongo knew there was something different about his new brother, so he took it upon himself to take care of little Quasi. He let him sleep beside him and try to have Quas’s back all the time. Their mom felt that when animals badly need help, they can sense it and would try to help the best they can. It doesn’t matter if that animal is a squirrel and you are a dog.
Because Quasi is an extra special family member, Pongo is very protective of him – he almost looks like a mother to the little squirrel. Whenever their mom comes out to feed Quasi with a little syringe, he was always there watching, assessing if everything is alright with Quasi. Pongo keeps the cats away from the little squirrel and never lets them go near him.
However, since Pongo And Quasi live with cats like their mother’s pet cat Dewey, facing cats is inevitable. Actually, Quasi and Dewey are like “Tom and Jerry.” They chase each other all the time and would look as if they are always arguing.
Quasi tries to defend himself from Dewey. He would run away from him, and will even face Dewey by puffing his tail up, turn around and slap Dewey in the face. They were a funny sibling even with all of their bickering. However, Quasi and Pongo’s relationship is special.
