This is truly how we can secure a better future for our children- one where unity and safety are restored and where the common good is truly meant for all people and not just individual groups. It is in constant and consistent small acts of love for one another that we as a nation, and as humanity, will begin to rebuild the idea that we can trust one another– even strangers. It is where we will rebuild what is broken among us and how we will show our children that change is possible if only they choose to go against the stream and act justly, mercifully, and with grace toward one another.

This chocolate lab has done more than just nurse a baby deer to health and provide him with the food and comfort he needed- she did more than teach us about adoption and love- she gave us an example of how to restore humanity and make it what it once was: effortless, beautiful, and nonnegotiable. We must love one another like this chocolate lab has loved this baby fawn- we will all be better off for it.
