From training our dogs to understanding their genetic makeup, we have initiated numerous programs to get closer to our best animal friend. In one such experiment recently, the objective was to find out if dogs react to magic. Humans have understood magic and have chosen to believe in the illusions. Most people know that it is a trick of the hand and the mind, at times aided by science and at times outright illusions.
In the experiment, dogs were shown a treat close to their mouth and then the treat was made to vanish into thin air, right under the canines’ noses. Every dog in the experiment responded to it.

They could very well understand that the treat was no longer there, in front of them in the hands of the person treating them. They knew they had not gorged on the treat. They could clearly see the treat was missing and could not fathom where it went. Most dogs kept looking around. They started by looking down as is natural since treats can fall down from the hands. They went on looking around where they stood or sat. They looked at the person who was about to treat them. In some cases, the dogs got scared of the odd development and just as the treat vanished they too ran away from the scene.
