How Dogs Became a Man’s Best Friends
During this period, there were remains found where humans and dogs were buried alongside each other, and there were ornaments that adorned dogs and deer teeth. Both of these periods are still under debate because they create two different scenarios.
In the Paleolithic period, humans were considered as both hunters and gatherers in which the path of the two species may intertwine with each other. Whereas during the Neolithic period, humans were just starting to find a permanent place to settle down which have resulted in a high rate of dumping human and food waste. This often attracts scavenger hunters like the grey wolves.
To better understand how wolves and dogs correlate, researchers used 3D scanning technology to analyze the skull remains of two dogs found in Belgium and Russia around 32,000 years ago and compare to 100 more dog skulls that are considered as modern breeds.
The research included the skulls palate, muzzle, braincase, and teeth. The results showed that the two ancient skulls were not actually from dogs, but they were wolves. After this research, more and more scientists and experts are trying to uncover the true origin of the evolution of dogs.
Dog owners and pet lovers don’t really care about the history of where it all began, they are just happy that their pets are with them.
